Truck Sales Continue Run-Up in June 2026
Not since the pandemic started letting up and bottled-up demand for truck orders exploded like a dam giving way have we seen orders of this magnitude. We last wrote about truck sales regarding April 2026, and while May 2026 was an improvement on top of that, June is yet another leap forward. As usual, two sources, ACT Research and FTR, corroborate the good news.

ACT Research pins the number of new truck orders for June 2026 to be 26,500 units, an increase of 18% from May (which was a 12% increase from April) and a 231% increase from June 2025.
FTR posts a similar level of growth. Though they have not yet posted June’s numbers, their May 2026 sales report indicates a 126% increase from May 2025, and will likely follow in ACT Research’s footsteps in the following update.
“Underpinning the seven-month run of strong Class 8 order activity has been the ongoing, supply-led and demand-supported recovery,” said research analyst at ACT Research Carter Vieth. “Truckers only buy trucks when they make money. Underscoring the rapid change in carrier fortunes, freight rates continue to soar.”
Indeed, the trucking industry is on fire in the best way possible as DAT reports spot rates increasing over 20% year-over-year for each of the three forms of freight.
Another reason for the intense buy-off is the proposed EPA regulations that were originally coming in 2027, but which may now face some headwinds as the Trump Administration’s EPA posted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to end them. If this was the primary driving force for sales, getting trucking companies to load up on the last possible model year of trucks that could be grandfathered in, it will prove itself in the second half of 2026 as the EPA regulations stand on shaky footing.
Conclusion
There is not much else to say. Often we use terms like “skyrocket” to describe such tremendous increases in truck sales, but at an estimated 231% year-over-year growth for June 2026, we have run out of descriptions to properly address the explosive prowess of the trucking industry right now. We hope it continues!
