President Trump Speaks at Pennsylvania Mack Facility
In the heart of Lehigh Valley in Macungie, Pennsylvania, the 47th president of the United States spoke at the Mack Trucking Plant, the same one that president Joe Biden spoke at approximately five years before. Needless to say, there was a lot on Trump’s mind.

Besides his usual political talk, Trump talked about the importance of trucking in the United States and what he plans to do to keep it rolling.
“For more than 100 years this legendary company has been making trucks right here in eastern Pennsylvania, building the heavy-duty machinery that keeps our economy rolling…all across the nation.”
Among the things he talked about in regards to trucking were policies that would improve the chances of american-made trucks competing in its own market, such as tariffs on imported trucking-related goods and plans to make interest payments on auto loans fully tax deductible, provided they are made in the USA.
Additionally, he talked about electric vehicles, not outright condemning them but saying that the infrastructure is not ready yet and that mandates requiring electric trucks are currently far away from being viable.
“They’ll make you put electric on it … so that when you’re in the middle of a jungle someplace and you need a charge, where’s my charging booth? As opposed to carrying a nice tank of diesel on your back, throwing it in and taking off,” Trump said during his speech.
Conclusion
Donald Trump’s speech was distinct from Joe Biden’s speech given at the same plant about half a decade ago, but in many ways it was similar. Both speeches emphasized buying goods that are made in the USA, in part due to the dividends it pays into the American economy through jobs, but also through a belief in American exceptionalism: that people should want to buy American because we put our best foot forward when it comes to getting things done. Perhaps the two of them have more in common than either would like to admit!
