Dolly Parton Opens Truck Stop
If you have been following our writing on the truck parking problem, you know that we have said that the solution will require work done on behalf of both public and private entities. While we usually cover the government adding truck parking spots, an unlikely private source has entered the fray: country music legend Dolly Parton.

When you think of Dolly Parton, you may think of her music, her amusement park Dollywood, or her book program, but you would not be blamed if the very last thing on your mind was the idea of a truck stop business.
“I’m sure some of you wonder why I wanted a truck stop. Well, I couldn’t leave it to beavers,” Parton said at the opening ceremony, not afraid to take a jab at a competing truck stop business with a few locations throughout the Volunteer State.
Dolly’s Tennessean Truck Stop is actually a reopening of the Tennessean Truck Stop that suffered closure five years ago due to a rampant fire. While this technically does not count as an increase of parking spots, it puts parking spaces that were previously taken off the map back onto it, with a little help from Dolly Parton presumably providing reconstruction funds in exchange for naming rights.
But there is more to the rebranding than just a simple name change, as there are numerous goodies on the property that will appeal to fans of the country singer, such as Parton’s own brand of coffee and a tour bus to explore. It also includes the typical amenities such as a general store, restaurant, showers, and a dog park.

With the truck parking spots that were previously closed once again reopened, drivers in Tennessee can take better care in stopping for the day or night with reduced risk of having to park somewhere haphazardly, such as the shoulder of a highway.
