The Rudest and Kindest Drivers, by State
Every trucker has that one state they hate traveling through because the drivers there are maniacs. But which state of them all has the nastiest and least courteous drivers? Insurify wanted to find out and compiled their statistics from over 4 million drivers.
Methodology
We have written about Insurify statistics before, and their methodology is very much the same as it was before. They counted up how many drivers per 1,000 in each state had one or more of the following violations:
- Failure to yield.
- Failure to stop.
- Improper backing.
- Passing where prohibited.
- Tailgating.
- Street racing.
- Hit-and-run.
As with the last list we looked at, there are two problems that may skew the data. First, it does not factor in people having multiple violations, a person only failing to yield once is treated the same as someone who has a dozen cases on their record. Second, the results do not count for how egregious the crime is: failing to stop at a stop sign is reckless driving, but it pales in comparison to a hit-and-run.
With all that said, here is their list of the ten rudest states for driving, and the three kindest.

Conclusion
Do you agree with any of these listings, or can you not believe that a certain state did not make the list? Let us know in the comments below. We, for one, cannot believe that our home state of California is nowhere to be seen on the “Rude” list, but perhaps we have a bias towards all the people here who would rather get into a car accident than let us merge.
