With all of the buzz surrounding the Freedom Convoy and Blockade in Canada, there is word going around of American truck drivers following in their tracks. Could a Freedom Convoy from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. help lift restrictions regarding vaccinations?

Details

A Facebook group called “Convoy to DC 2022” accumulated over 100,000 before being removed for alleged terms of service violations.

“We support our freedom. Help us spread the word about this group and together we all can make it a better place. God Bless America,” the group stated on the now-deleted Facebook page, calling itself one of “many large groups who believe in our founding fathers.”

The organizers of this potential convoy have not officially listed a starting date, but speculation ensued that it would start during Superbowl Sunday, when Los Angeles is full of travelers coming to see the game. That added traffic to an already crazy city would certainly send a message!

The question is as to what message it would send. The Supreme Court has already ruled that OSHA cannot require most businesses to have their workforce vaccinated, but healthcare is one of those exceptions. Perhaps the United States Freedom Convoy is in solidarity with healthcare workers?

Assuming this Freedom Convoy kicks off, the truckers will travel over 2,600 miles to get from Los Angeles to the nation’s capital. It is surprisingly comparable to the one in Canada that traveled from Vancouver to Ottawa.

Conclusion

Our opinions on the United States Freedom Convoy, were it to happen, are the same as with the Canadian one. While we commend any truckers’ efforts to protest, perhaps the best method of protest would be to schedule a week of staying at home. The global supply chain is starting to move again, but throwing a wrench into it would be a surefire way to send a message to the government.

In a span of two years, truckers have been portrayed by the mainstream media from heroes of the pandemic to rabble-rousers. It is interesting to see just how quickly the script flips. If the United States Freedom Convoy goes underway, we will be sure to update you about what happens next.
