Adrienne Camire Leaves FMCSA
We at TopMark Funding hate to report this, but the news is the news and we have no direct influence over how people act in Washington D.C.
We wrote on March 11th about Adrienne Camire taking up the position of Acting Administrator of the FMCSA. Two weeks later, she has silently stepped down.
Details
The news comes implicitly from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) website, as Camire’s biography has been scrubbed completely from the leadership webpage. Still there are Sue Lawless, likely to be the Acting Acting Administrator in Camire’s stead, and Jesse Elison, the Chief Council.
Information is still developing on this story, as to the why and how. The most recent news regarding Camire is a post on Facebook writing how she visited the Community College of Baltimore County Transportation Training Center in Baltimore. We will be sure to provide an update should any other news come to light.
Conclusion
While Camire having a short tenure at the FMCSA is disappointing (we wished her the best in her new role, especially combined with her previous experience in work as Chief Counsel for the Federal Highway Administration during Trump’s first presidential term), it is not surprising.
The role of Administrator in the FMCSA has perhaps become the position in the executive branch of the federal government with the most turnover in the past decade, with the number approaching double digits, and about as many people filling the role as there have been years since the Obama Administration.
Longtime readers may remember the names Raymond Martinez, Wiley Deck, Meera Joshi, and Robin Hutcheson. Reasons for the numerous changes are almost just as varied, ranging from being offered a new position elsewhere, to changing when the presidential administration changed.
Adrienne Carmie was announced at the end of January to be the Senior Advisor to the Administrator before being moved into the Acting Administrator position. It is currently unknown if she will return to that Senior Advisor position. Regardless, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy will now have to find another person to fill the role of Acting Administrator.
