Western Star Trucks
Western Star Trucks Sales, Inc., commonly designated Western Star, is an American truck manufacturer headquartered in Portland, Oregon, and a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America, in turn, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the German Daimler AG.
Western Star produces a range of Class 8 commercial vehicles for both highway and off-road use. Western Star specializes in trucks tailored to customer specifications. Every Western Star offers several sleeper box sizes, with chassis lengths of up to 486 inches depending on the model.
Five interior packages are available and sleepers can be trimmed to specifications. Engines, transmissions, axles, suspensions, and brakes are available in a number of configurations. Engines used include Cummins and Detroit.
Multiple Western Star trucks have been featured in films, including:
- A Western Star 5700 Phantom Custom is used as the new disguise for Optimus Prime in Transformers – Age of Extinction and Transformers – The Last Knight.
- Western Star 4900SF tow truck, is used as the Decepticon Onslaught in Transformers – The Last Knight.
- Western Star 4800 is used as the Happy Toyz (Green Goblin) truck in Maximum Overdrive.
- Western Star 4964 is used as the Westway Refrigerated truck in Trucks.
- A 1989 Western Star 4964 was used as the antagonist vehicle in the 2015 Canadian horror film Wrecker, which is largely a remake of the film Duel.

Western Star 5700

Western Star 4700
Tough and versatile, the 4700 is more than just a great value. It’s a great truck. Its excellent efficiency and maneuverability make it perfect for local and regional hauls as a tractor, while its rugged dependability gives you the performance you can count on for almost any vocational application. In fact, the 4700 is purpose-built to deliver Western Star quality to everyone.
The new 40-inch Low Roof and Ultra-Low Roof sleeper on the 4700 offers the same lightweight honeycomb construction you’ll find in every Western Star sleeper. It provides increased insulation and sound resistance, making the standard single bunk a comfortable place to rest during long shifts.
With both Detroit™ and Cummins engine options, having enough power for your application is never a concern. Matching that power to the 110-inch BBC of the 4700 gives you a truck or tractor that packs plenty of punch in a small package.

Western Star 4800
The Western Star 4800 offers incredible performance and durability in a 109-inch BBC package, meaning you can get that performance in and out of tight spots. Featuring a streamlined cab, Western Star’s legendary toughness, and loads of options, you can build to suit any job, no matter how tight the site.

Western Star 6900
When you need to tackle the biggest and toughest jobs, there’s only one truck out there – the Western Star 6900. As a tractor, it can pull loads over 500,000 pounds all day long. And with the body and it can move 80,000. Add in the engine choices and build options, and you’ve got a truck that’s as versatile as it is powerful.
The 6900 Come in two configurations
- TS – Twin Steer
- XD – Extreme Duty
The 6900TS is powered up a Detriot DD16 15.6L, 475 to 600 horsepower motor with 1850 to 2050 pound-feet of torque.
The 6900 XD extreme duty is powered by a Detriot DD15 14.8L, 400 to 505 horsepower motor with 1550 to 1750 pound-feet of torque.
