Trucking Associations
The trucking industry is a huge industry with millions of drivers, with many federal and state laws and regulations. Just like many other large industries the trucking industry has several great associations. These trucking associations were formed to help effectively advocate for owner-operators, fleets owners and trucking businesses.
We’ve put together a list of the best trucking associations. From major nationals like the American Trucking Associations to small state and locals.
American Trucking Associations (ATA)
The American Trucking Associations is the largest national trade association for the trucking industry. Through a federation of 50 affiliated state associations and industry-related conferences and councils, ATA is the voice of the industry America depends on most to move our nation’s freight.
ATA’s mission is to “effectively advocate and communicate efforts designed to improve safety and profitability for our members,” in accordance with the organization’s strategic plan and vision.
Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA)
The Trucking Industry Defense Association is a nonprofit association with members devoted to sharing knowledge and resources for defense of the trucking industry. Founded in 1993, TIDA has become the organization of choice for over 1,600 motor carriers, trucking insurers, defense attorneys and claims servicing companies.
The organization is committed to reducing the cost of claims and lawsuits against the trucking industry. Members work to develop strategies and share knowledge to defend the trucking industry in personal injury, property damage, workers’ compensation, and cargo claims. TIDA members advocate on behalf of the industry’s interests.
Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA)
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association started in 1973. It has over 160,000 members working to give all professional truckers a voice. With a proud history of effective representation, they continue to fight for their members’ best interests in new and more powerful ways.
