Tesla to Throw Semi Release Party in Nevada
We wrote earlier in the month how we were cautiously optimistic about the Tesla Semi becoming reality in the start of December, but now it looks like it has a 100% chance of becoming reality. Why? Because Tesla has announced a party to celebrate the end of the journey, and it would be embarrassing for them to not deliver!

On the 14th of November, Tesla Motors announced on Twitter, now a sister company to Tesla, that there is going to be a release party for the Tesla Semi at the Nevada GigaFactory on the first of December.

The party marks the end of a journey spanning over half a decade, as obstacle after obstacle pushed the release date of the Tesla Semi further back until many people, including us, were skeptical it would ever come to market. First it was the opportunity cost of building a semi truck versus a sedan, then it was a chip shortage, and the list of hurdles seemed to never end.
Their party will occur the same day that Tesla delivers its first batch of Tesla Semis to PepsiCo. In addition, Tesla plans to make 100 Tesla Semis in the month of December, ramping up production to over 4,100 a month by 2024.
Conclusion
With the Semi backlog no doubt being over a mile long, it will be a few years before we start seeing them sold retail to the average fleet. We wait with baited breath for that day, and might even have funding options when that time comes!
It is unknown how long it will be before these vehicles appear in the used vehicle market, but depending on if the Semi meets expectations, that may also take years to happen unless a fleet is willing to pay a pretty penny for such a commercial vehicle.
