ATRI Wants to Hear Your Top 2023 Trucking Issues

The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), which provides the industry with various types of helpful information, is now collecting data from industry stakeholders about their biggest concerns for the future of trucking to compile in their annual report.

This is the nineteenth time that the ATRI is doing its Top Industry Issues Survey. If you would like to participate, you can go to the survey webpage. We went through the survey ourselves to see what it was like to give you a better understanding of the questions. Here is what we found.

The survey will ask for your top three biggest concerns from a list, and then for each of those three concerns, it will ask you to rate three potential solutions by how effective you think they may be in remedying any problems with the category. Topics listed in the survey include:

• Autonomous trucks.
• Truck parking.
• Driver detention.
• Nuclear verdict lawsuits.
• Equipment/parts shortages.
• Driver compensation.
• Infrastructure and its funding.
• Diesel technician shortage.
• Independent contractor laws.
• Speed limiters.
• Driver shortage.
• Tolls on existing interstates.
• Marijuana legalization.

The methodology for this year’s survey is likely to be the same as those in years prior: your number one listed concern will be given three points, and your lowest of the three concerns will be given one point, with the ones you did not pick getting zero each.

The entire survey takes about five minutes to complete. If one of your biggest concerns is not included in the list of twenty-six entries, or if one of your ideas is not part of the three solutions for a given concern, there is also a space for free entry of words.

When the ATRI finishes compiling their data and publishes the results, we will be sure to post them here to help proliferate the spread of valuable information. We are willing to place our chips on one thing, however: much like the year before, fuel prices will be the lead concern from the survey, as prices continue to gain momentum as they did around this time in 2022.
