Vivek Ramaswamy Speaks at World’s Largest Truckstop
The 2024 Republican presidential candidate who is also a billionaire spoke at the World’s Largest Truckstop in Iowa to talk about what he would do regarding regulations within the trucking industry.

The Republican hopeful on his campaign to try and win the Republican primary to presumably face off against Joe Biden in the general election had a stop at the World’s Largest Truckstop in what he called the “Freedom Truckers Town Hall.”
“[Truckers] are the invisible glue that holds the supply chain together,” Ramaswamy said during his opening.
When it came to his speech, one message came across loud and clear: less is more. Ramaswamy talked about the FMCSA, saying that it needs to have less power and a better understanding of the industry at large if truckers are to succeed and the purported “trucker shortage” is to come to an end due to a lack of retention.
“The FAA has a pilot in charge…it would be laughable to put somebody in front of the drug division at the FDA who didn’t know the first thing about medicine…the FMCSA, somebody’s been sitting behind a desk their whole career and never sat behind a wheel? Doesn’t make any sense.”
He also mentioned the parking shortage and suggested some regulations that could be pulled back to motivate private investment into truck parking.
“Writing a check doesn’t make parking spaces magically appear…maybe more new stops would be built if people actually could sell things at those stops…give people the incentives to build more stops that creates more parking spots, which wastes less time.”

Things will certainly be heating up between the remaining candidates who hope to be able to show Donald Trump and Joe Biden alike that they have some competition, and that neither of them should take the trucker vote for granted.
