Trucking Fleet Opens Up Parking Place

Bennett Motor Express has taken it upon itself to expand its business operations from simply hauling goods to providing truck stops made by truckers, for truckers.

Currently, Bennett Motor Express only has one truck stop, which it prefers to call “Large Car Campground”, located in Joplin, Missouri. It is the result of reworking a farm spanning more than 40 acres.

Being a truck stop built by truckers rather than a large conglomerate, it has many amenities that you will find nowhere else. These include a recreation room with billiards and shuffleboard, laundry services that are free on the site, and soon to be added, a pond with bass fishing and a fire pit.

David Lowry, leader of Bennett Motor Express, says that he is happy with this offshoot of the business. Currently, the Large Car Campground is available only to those contracted with the Authority of Bennett Motor Express, which is part of the reason why they chose Joplin as a starting point (it is close to their base for Bennett’s Heavy and Specialized division), but Lowry has plans to expand the operation not only to more locations, but for more people as well.

With truck parking being such a major problem in the trucking industry, we wish Lowry and Bennett Motor Express the best of luck in the development of its Large Car Campgrounds. As the business opens in more locations and is available to more people, we hope that it can be a shining example of how truckers work to make their jobs easier for their fellow drivers.

As Large Car Campgrounds expands westward from Missouri, we would be happy to take a formal look at one should they reach near our backyard of the Greater Sacramento Area. Currently, they have plans to expand into Casa Grande, Arizona and Morton, Illinois.
