Supply Chain Resiliency Council Has First Meeting
President Biden was the first person to speak at the first meeting of his new supply chain resilience council, and it was offering a brighter future for Americans.
“We know that prices are still too high for too many things, that times are still too tough for too many families, but we’ve made progress.”
With that, the supply chain resilience council had its inaugural meeting, where Biden outlined 30 different points on what he and his administration were going to do regarding the supply chain.

Biden pointed plenty of fingers as to factors that are causing the supply chain to be a mess: from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, to corporate greed using inflation as an excuse to further increase prices, to Republicans wanting to cut infrastructure investment. But he also listed numerous solutions to get the nation’s economy into overdrive.
Of the thirty, few related directly to trucking. From opposing “junk fees” to using the Defense Production Act to produce more medicine, Biden covered a lot of subjects in a short amount of time.
The one that matters most to trucking is the plan for federal agencies to share data amongst one another to better understand the supply chain and what can be done to improve it. For instance, new data resources from the Department of Transportation to help shipping companies.
Conclusion
We will be keeping a close watch on the supply chain resilience council to see what they do in direct regard to the trucking industry. Considering a majority of the nation’s freight travels by truck, it is more than a simple possibility that it will be the main topic at future meetings from this new committee.
