Speed Limits for Semi-Trucks in the United States
Truckers starting out in hauling across state lines might be shocked to find out that some states have different speed limits for cars and heavy-duty trucks. These are for a few reasons: a semi-truck crashing at a higher speed limit can cause more damage, and a big rig traveling faster uses more fuel and generates more pollution.
What ultimately matters to you, however, is avoiding getting a ticket for speeding. Here is the list of speed limits for semi-trucks, in miles per hour, for the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington D.C.. An asterisk next to the speed limit means it is the same speed limit as standard mobiles.
