Trump Speaks at Peterbilt Plant
It seems like the 47th president is in the news every single day, and today is no different. On October 1st, he visited the Peterbilt Motors Facility in Denton, Texas, and gave a speech to press and workers alike.
Details
President Trump spoke for about an hour at the facility. If you want to see it in its entirety, you can see the video here:
If you want the abridged version, here is what you need to know:
200 Trucks Per Day
Trump mentioned that the Denton facility not only produced 200 trucks per day, but they were flying off the lot in terms of sales, suggesting that the trucking industry is booming as demand exceeds supply.
âTheyâre selling them faster than they can make âem, if you can believe it, and thatâs why youâre expanding and you’re doing a big expansionâŠâ Trump said in his speech.
Love for Old Tech
Doanld Trump touted his support of not only newer trucks simply rolling off the production facility into driversâ hands, but also his appreciation for the simpler systems in older trucks.
âI buy a lot of farming equipment because I own a lot ofâŠgolf clubsâŠand I want old equipmentâŠâDo you have any old lawnmowers from ten years ago that havenât been destroyed by putting computers all over it?ââ
He stays on point by comparing the humble lawnmower to the burly truck, rolling back part of the nitrogen oxide regulations from the EPA. âThis action alone will cut an estimated $6,000 from the cost of each truck built, and it will be a better truck!â
Political Theater
In typical Trump fashion, he talked about âpoliticians who betrayed workersâ, spoke of his previous rallies, and threw his support behind specific candidates. Our wheelhouse is trucking, not politics, so we will leave it at that.
Conclusion
Trump emphasized in his speech the importance that the trucking industry has in the American economy and how as long as he is president, the trucking industry will have an ally rather than a foe in the Oval Office. He finished his speech by touting his own desire to get some first-hand experience behind the wheel.
âI donât know if Iâm allowed to drive them, you know. Secret Service has a little problem with that, but if I can get approval Iâll buy one myself and Iâll drive it all over the place!â
